Black History Month

Fashionistas, I wanted to end Black History Month on an awesome note about two great African American women.
The first woman is Nina Simone! A timeless musician for over four decades (1959-1993). You know her from her hits "I Loves You Porgy" and "A Single Woman. Her wonderful voice on songs such as "Feeling Good", "Misunderstood", and "I Put A Spell On You". She was a soulful lover and teacher of music. Her style was also very influential. She had a natural style, wore head wraps and African inspired accessories also known as what we would call today statement pieces.
Please go read this wonderful bio about Nina Simone's life. It is so inspirational. http://www.ninasimone.com/about/bio/

Today's modern day Nina is June Ambrose! I love her!!! She is my fav stylist! Honestly don't think she can do any wrong in that department and has started trends that we have all loved from the 90's. She is a designer, stylist, and fashion icon while also being a mother and a wife! Boom! What a modern day woman she is! June has worked with Sean "Diddy" Combs, Busta Rhymes, Jay-Z, Will Smith, Missy Elliott, Mariah Carey, Mary J. Blige, and this is just a few lol. I don't know if there is a person that she has not worked with or does not look up to her. She is just that awesome!
Her style consist of so many faces but her signature turbans, hats, and statement pieces come to mind. She can rock just about anything and make it look fabulous.

Please go check out June's website and bio at http://thejuniverse.com/about/

Sorry for My Sudden Absence

I am so sorry that I have been missing from my blog the past couple of days. I have been so busy with work during the week and of course my family.

Anyway now to the blogging business!!

My husband and I actually went on a real date this past weekend!!! We haven't been on a date without our kids in a very long time even before our youngest son was born. He is a little over 6 months now so probably about a year has past since we been on a kid-less date lol I know sad right. I was so excited that I didn't take any pictures.......sorry : ( . My highlight of that night was when we went to the gas station after the date, I stayed in the car and when I looked up my husband had a bundle of flowers at my window......I was smiling from ear to ear! Here is my ootd from that night and my flowers.

We had some fun family time this weekend also. I am still a little new at blogging so I keep forgetting to take as many pictures as I can. I will definitely try to have my camera or my cell phone camera out a lot more. But here are a few pictures I did take of my ootd on Saturday.

I hope you enjoyed the Style In Me!!

Relaxing on a Tuesday

Have you ever had a day that felt busy but it really wasnt??? Or is it just me? Lol.....anyway that was how my Tuesday felt. I had to get up early to take my husband to work.......man we need to invest in another car. Then my 6 month old son had his well child check up that morning. It was at the Naval Hospital and anyone that goes to any naval hospital for doctor appointments know that they are going to be there for a while.....um yeah! I love seeing my son's doctor even though Im not all that happy with the Naval Hospital. I really wanted to let my oldest son run around at the park but it started to rain. I decided to run some errands. I had to get something notorized, stop by the post office and then meet my hubby for lunch. After I finally got home, the boys and I took naps. It felt so good to sleep during the day Im not going to lie! It felt so good to be off work too, cant wait til the next time. Trust me it will be soon : )

Here is my OOTD: My flannel shirt, ripped denim, khaki hooded jacket, and flats. A day with both boys, rain, and errands.....that requires comfort.....TRUST ME!!!LOL!!!!

Baby Shower Time

So yesterday I went to a friend's baby shower at a nice clubhouse on base. I had a little time to get out the house and have a nice time. We played games and had crazy military wife talk lol. I figured out that I probably don't eat enough chocolate because I suck at that " What's in the diaper" game. If you don't know what I'm talking about, its the game when the hosts smashes different types of chocolate candy in a few diapers to make it look like baby poop and the players have to write down what the candy is by look or smell. I got a few right but I lost. Even the ones I thought were correct were actually wrong lol. Poor me! Maybe next time I'm sure I will be going to more baby showers.......just know it wont be mine hahaha! So serious though!

Anyway here are a couple of pics of my outfit. If you are wondering who this lovely lady beside me is, her name is Alice, she is my new mannequin I begged the manager of one of my local thrift stores for. They didn't sell mannequins so YES I begged and YES I named it! LOL. Ain't no shame in my game......as my mom would say!

Above is a better pic of my new lovely hair too. Boom! Long hair dont care! I laugh and joke a lot so be prepared when you check out my blog : )
My top came from Marshalls and pants from Forever 21. I love the gold button detail on the back of this shirt. I have a lot of detailed back shirts, I guess thats my new "thing" now. Do you have any? Post up pics!

Below are a few more pics from the baby shower. On my lap is my youngest son Mason. Isn't he cute and healthy! Please excuse my pocket coming out I was so not prepared lol.

My Valentine's Day!!!

I hope everyone had an awesome Valentine's Day. In my house we try not to make it a huge deal but we do celebrate with gift giving. This year I got my husband a mini fridge........he really wanted one for his man cave. Now when a game is on I never see him LOL! He loves that thing more than me hahaha! I got a really great gift too...........a Michael Kors watch!!!! Its my first one and its another step up for my "arm candy". We went out to eat as a family. Family Love on Valentine's Day. We shared stories and had some crazy laughs too! Of course my husband and I talked about sports too. Here are a few pics from our night and my OOTD. We had a little bit of a photo shoot lol.

I was really feeling my heart detail on the back of my shirt for Valentine's Day.

Yes my hubby knows how to dress! He is married to a stylist lol!

I am slowly but surely coming up on my gold arm candy. I have make it a goal and mission to wear more accessories this year. This is also my new watch my hubby got me! Isnt it pretty!!!!

Valentine's Day

Valentine's Day
Most people that really know me, know that I am not the girly girl, feminaine, or "sexy" type of dresser. But here lately I have really been stepping my game up. Valentine's Day is around the corner........what to wear????? Stripes are in this season so I chose this form fitted dress. I love leather jackets but I dont have one that has full length long sleeves and basic black color. Eventhough its going to be spring soon, its an esstenial piece to any closet. The color on these pumps hit me like a can of biscuits.....hahahaha!!! Thats my joke for the week! But really isnt that color amazing especially for the occassion? That clutch bag might be going into my closet asap. It would be great for a date night or even girls night out.

Acid Wash & Leopard

Let me start off by saying I hope everyone had a great weekend! Now its back to making money as we call it in my house. Anyway I am so upset at myself for not taking these pictures(below) with my new camera I was talking about last week. My husband wasn't around me at the moment & I clearly forgot he brought me a tripod. Ugh!!!! And I loved this outfit I put together but don't worry I will be wearing it again soon lol. My family and I drove to Los Angeles this weekend, which is only like an hour & a half away. I got my hair done......hope you like! You will see more of it this week.

I am love animal prints especially leopard! As you can tell I also love denim tops lol yes this is a different one from last weekend. This one is actually acid wash!!!! LOVE IT!!! And to think I wasn't going to buy it because I didn't think it was worth the money.......this is money well spent. This shirt as good spikes as buttons that makes it 10 times more awesome!!!

Super Bowl Sunday!!

I got up early to do a few errand running before the big game and Bey's halftime concert....... which by the way she did her thang! I was screaming like I was outside lol.  Anyway this is my errands/game day look. I got a digital camera from a thrift store for $8!!!! Can we say...........SCORE!!!! My husband brought a charger for it and it works great so I had to test it out. That is my favorite sweatshirt style top & its my fav because its SHEER!!! My sheer sweatshirt style shirt makes me feel so chic. I love this shade of blue in my jeans, they stretch really good and are super comfy. I pair this look with some black gold studded flats which also have clear siding, some jewelry and a great bag!

My First Post!!!

Yay!!! Its my first post on my new blog!!!! Of course I had to showcase my wonderful family. These pictures are from a couple of weeks ago when we had a family day at the park. It was a beautiful day in California. I had on my blue on blue outfit with my rust color loafers. I cant wait to you all start seeing more of the style in me!!!!!
